Paintings and Frames

My original paintings are worked in several acrylic layers, mainly knife painted onto canvas covered board. My technique is often textured, and therefore finished with a coat of medium acrylic varnish to preserve the colours and protect from sunlight and dust.

The frames are a wide wooden moulding, custom made to a personal specification, and painted in a special shade of dark grey which I formulated myself from my regular colour palette, and now mixed exclusively for my work. There is a narrow wooden slip frame painted cream, which outlines the image.

I consider the frames to be an integral part of the painting.

There is no glass used in the process, therefore the paintings are non reflective and relatively light.

The frames are finished with brass D rings at the back, and picture cord for hanging.
